JCAHO is a for profit organization that provides voluntary accreditation programs for various providers, including home health and hospice agencies, home infusion companies, homecare aides, specialty pharmacies, and home medical equipment suppliers.

It consists of a professional peer review administered by a private, non-profit organization, such as the JCAHO, structured to establish higher standards than what is required by the state or federal government.
